Those same people also tend to believe that legislators only listen to people who make political campaign contributions. This is simply not true! The goal of effective communication is to establish a "relationship" with your legislators. You will know that the relationship has been formed when your legislators know your name, can put a face with the name, know your occupation and/or subject of your legislative interest and respond in a timely manner to your contacts. You will have done your job when a legislator contacts you first to solicit your opinion about a given issue!
